About this Webinar:

Loved ones supporting someone through eating disorder recovery often feel powerless and helpless and search for ways to get behavioral compliance and buy in from the person struggling with the ED. Using leverage lovingly and skillfully is often a necessary component of treatment to assist the person struggling in beginning to make recovery choices. But how do you know when using leverage is appropriate? Can leverage be used while still communicating compassion and support? When is using leverage too much? Is using leverage appropriate or even possible with a young adult child or significant other? Can leverage be used while still respecting and promoting autonomy? In this webinar, we will discuss the use of leverage in eating disorder treatment and the rationale for using leverage, the timing and wording which communicate compassion while also holding appropriate boundaries, using leverage and relationship capital to protect and keep your loved ones safe, and how to know when to use leverage vs. other approaches. There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion.
